  • A first exposure to the world of computers, this course covers basic concepts and terminology. It is suitable for the information systems student or anyone wishing to gain computer knowledge. Hands-on use of computer applications: word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation graphics will be covered. In addition, exposure to the Windows operating system and web page development will be a part of the class. Topics such as hardware, software, data communications, programming development and languages, the development of computing, and emerging trends will be covered. Group 2 course. Prerequisite(s): Keyboarding skills required.

  • Whether for personal or business use, knowledge of keyboarding is a must today! This course introduces you to the computer keyboard. Areas of emphasis include touch keyboarding of letters, numbers, and symbols and use of the numeric keypad. Students who already have the above skills may bypass CIT 109A and enroll in CIT 109B. This class is offered as a self-paced, O.P.E.N. class. Group 2 course.
  • A one-credit course focusing on the first half of the Microsoft Office Specialist Word Core Certification exam skill sets. The skill sets include inserting and modifying text, creating and modifying paragraphs, formatting documents, and managing documents. The instructional goal of this course is to prepare students for the Microsoft Office Specialist core level exam in Word. Group 2 course. Prerequisite(s): Basic keyboarding and Windows skills
  • A one-credit course focusing on the first half of the Microsoft Office Specialist PowerPoint Comprehensive Certification Exam skill sets. The skill sets include creating presentations, inserting and modifying text, inserting and modifying visual elements, modifying presentation formats, printing presentations, working with data from other sources and managing and delivering presentations. The instructional goal of this course is to prepare students for the Microsoft Office Specialist comprehensive level exam in PowerPoint. Group 2 course. Prerequisite(s): Basic keyboarding and Windows skills.
  • A one-credit course focusing on the second half of the Microsoft Office Specialist PowerPoint Comprehensive Certification Exam skill sets. The skill sets include inserting and modifying text, inserting and modifying visual elements, modifying presentation formats, printing presentations, working with data from other sources, managing and delivering presentations, and workgroup collaboration. The instructional goal of this course is to prepare students for the Microsoft Office Specialist comprehensive level exam in PowerPoint. Group 2 course. Prerequisite(s): CIT 124A or equivalent experience.
